A very small typical Tokyo style sushi shop. Owned and run by Mama, she was super nice and helpful. Fish was fresh and delicious recommendations of what is in season. Tokyo style sushi which means fresh fish and rice, not deep fried rolls and spicy mayonnaise. Highly recommend for sushi lovers!
I would highly advise on calling in a reservation as it does get busy and I believe it gives you the best experience along with knowing what edo-mae style sushi is, you don’t need to but it gives you a better understanding on how much pride and care they put into each of their plates. The staff are very welcoming and guide you on how how to eat different fish so you can enjoy the flavors they’re presenting. All in all it’s an amazing experience that everyone should try.
You are great! Sushi Hanada is the best Japanese restaurant in Ventura county. Sushi and rolls are over the top, but also other fish and beef plates are so good. Don't miss the opportunity to give it a try! ????
The sushi here is divine, my personal favorite is the albacore & tempura veggie s, but the food here is of the utmost quality.
First time back in 7 years for omakase and the fish quality and preparation are top notch. Every item was delicious and it's truly a culinary experience. I felt like there was too much wasabi this time, making it more of a struggle to actually enjoy each fish bite and its notes and subtle flavors. For a meal costing over $100 a person, I think the chef does himself and his cuisine a disservice by the amount of wasabi that he uses.
We love the sushi here. Crab rolls are like desert... always a treat. The albacore sushi is in my opinion the best in Ventura county. The sauce really sets it apart. They do traditional Japanese style, so not a lot of rolls, but always fresh, always consistent, always delicious.
Mr. Hanada is incredible. We only order Omakase here and, if not a group, prefer to sit at the bar to watch him do his art; from the way he slices the fish to preparing the masterpieces. Love the jazz in the background too. This place is legitimate. Don’t let its location fool you. Experience it.
Excellent authentic Japanese style sushi. Mostly nigiri, only a few rolls (mostly traditional, except for the now ubiquitous California roll). A little pricey, but easily the best in the area. At least on par with most sushi I've had in Japan, if not better.
Best sushi in all of California! Order Omakase! The only way to have sushi here. Yuki (sp) is old school Tokyo style sushi. Real Japanese sushi chef. No California style sushi slathered in sauces. This is Toyko style! BEST ever. Omakase is when the chef makes only what he wants for you. HAS NEVER disappointed.
